New Partnership With Sedona’s Premier Golf Club — Seven Canyons

The strategic partnership is an opportunity to offer even more exposure and an exemplary experience to its members.

Arizona’s leading luxury real estate brokerage, Russ Lyon Sotheby’s International Realty, is pleased to announce a new strategic partnership with The Club at Seven Canyons, a private golf club that serves as the premier destination for golf in Sedona.

Situated on 200 acres and surrounded by miles of National Forest lands, Seven Canyons is a one-of-a-kind oasis retreat where golf, social activities, and a luxury residential community are elevated to provide its members with a relaxed atmosphere of distinction.

Russ Lyon Sotheby’s International Realty Managing Broker for the Sedona Office, Tod Christensen, and Global Real Estate Advisor Monty Cooper spearhead the partnership and on-site services to assist members and the club with the various real estate needs.

“Seven Canyons represents one of the pinnacles of the Arizona Golf Communities, so it is a privilege and an honor that they chose us as their preferred real estate partner,” said Christensen.  “Excellence combined with Sotheby’s makes for a great combination, and just like we recognize the unique lifestyles and values that Seven Canyons offers, the club has recognized that our agents and marketing approach offers them the best chance to highlight this value and lifestyle to the world, not just Arizona.”

As part of this new strategic partnership, all the real estate offerings, golf club amenities, and membership opportunities will be marketed locally, nationally, and internationally through the global reach of the Sotheby’s International Realty network. Social media and public relations campaigns and live development presentations across Arizona will be coordinated and delivered in a multi-faceted marketing and branding campaign.

Seven Canyons has engaged Russ Lyon Sotheby’s International Realty as its preferred real estate partner. While property owners within Seven Canyons will be free to employ the real estate brokerage company of their choosing should they decide to list their property, Russ Lyon Sotheby’s International Realty will cooperate and assist in promoting all real estate offerings within the gates.

According to Russ Lyon, Sotheby’s International Realty CEO Todd Gillenwater has been a club member since 2005.  “Pairing this powerful luxury brand with one of the world’s most stunning and iconic developments is a real estate marketer’s dream. The opportunity to share this Seven Canyons treasure with the world through our focused and far-reaching channels will bring that dream into crystal clear vision for many of those looking for the best.”

The story of Seven Canyons began in 2000 when PGA golf legend Tom Weiskopf saw the site and was immediately stricken by its natural beauty; over the next few days, Weiskopf toured the land on horseback with a notepad, and within two weeks, the master plan for the Seven Canyons golf course was realized. He said, “The sheer beauty of Seven Canyons Golf Club is arresting. I consider it irreplaceable real estate.”

Seven Canyons is keenly focused on inspired experiences and quality amenities, with frequent golf events, social mixers, group hikes, fitness classes, and special interest groups like its book club, knitting club, and bridge club to satisfy its discerning members’ myriad and varied interests.

Among the most impactful parts of the Seven Canyons experience is, of course, golf; fully contained within the stunning Coconino National Forest, it offers 360 degrees of natural beauty and grandeur, leading to a truly spectacular afternoon that will be etched in your golf memoirs forever.

Seven Canyons offers five luxury neighborhoods within its gates, from amazing custom homes to luxurious patio homes and townhomes to stunningly gorgeous fractional-interest Golf Villas, each with distinct views and feels. Its membership offerings include full golf and lifestyle memberships for families and individuals, as well as an international membership offering unique annual membership opportunities.

This strategic partnership will promote Seven Canyons to a global audience, unify marketing efforts, and drive on-site and web-based interest in the real estate and lifestyle this spectacular development offers.

Local Foodie Finds: Explore Arizona’s Culinary Scene

Arizona is a culinary treasure trove, offering an eclectic mix of flavors and experiences that mirror its diverse culture and history. From authentic Mexican cuisine influenced by its geographical neighbor to innovative Southwestern fusion, there’s a world of flavors to explore in the Grand Canyon State. Let’s embark on a gastronomic journey to uncover some of the hidden gems and must-try dishes across Arizona.

The Heart of Mexican Traditions: Tucson & Beyond

Tucson, a designated UNESCO City of Gastronomy, is the perfect starting point to dive into authentic Mexican cuisine. One of the city’s standout dishes is the Sonoran hot dog, a mouth-watering concoction of a bacon-wrapped hot dog, pinto beans, onions, tomato, and mayonnaise, nestled in a soft bolillo-style bun. El Güero Canelo or BK’s are famed spots to try this local favorite.

Beyond hot dogs, Tucson’s culinary landscape thrives on traditional Mexican dishes. Taquerias like Taqueria Pico de Gallo offer tacos filled with succulent carne asada, while Café Poca Cosa provides an upscale twist on classic Mexican flavors, with a menu that changes twice daily to showcase the freshest ingredients.

Phoenix’s Fusion and Fine Dining

Phoenix, Arizona’s bustling capital, is a melting pot of culinary innovation. Here, Southwestern cuisine meets global influences, creating a fusion that’s uniquely Arizonan. Restaurants like FnB and Binkley’s offer menus that reflect the region’s agricultural bounty and culinary creativity, serving dishes like prickly pear cactus tacos or mesquite-grilled rabbit.

For those seeking a taste of Arizona’s fine dining scene, Kai at the Sheraton Grand at Wild Horse Pass offers a luxurious experience with Native American-inspired dishes, using ingredients sourced from the Gila River Indian Community.

Flagstaff’s Foodie Renaissance

In the northern part of the state, Flagstaff is experiencing a foodie renaissance. The city’s cool climate and eclectic community have given rise to a range of eateries that highlight local ingredients and innovative cooking. Places like Proper Meats + Provisions champion the farm-to-table ethos, offering locally sourced meats and artisanal sandwiches.

For a unique dining experience, try Shift Kitchen & Bar, where the menu offers inventive plates that challenge conventional flavor combinations, like beet tartare or smoked trout doughnuts.

Sedona’s Scenic Suppers

In Sedona, the stunning red rock landscapes provide a breathtaking backdrop for dining. Restaurants here blend exquisite views with equally impressive cuisine. Mariposa Latin Inspired Grill offers panoramic vistas alongside a South American-inspired menu, featuring dishes like grilled Argentinean beef and Chilean sea bass.

For a taste of local wine, visit Page Springs Cellars, where you can enjoy a glass of Arizona-made wine paired with artisanal cheese and charcuterie, overlooking the verdant vineyards and Oak Creek.

Uncovering the Gems

Arizona’s culinary scene is as varied and vibrant as its landscapes. From the historic Mexican influences of Tucson to the innovative fusion flavors of Phoenix, the hearty and homegrown offerings of Flagstaff, to the scenic and sumptuous eats of Sedona, there’s a plate for every palate in the Grand Canyon State. So, next time you find yourself in Arizona, venture beyond the usual tourist spots and dive into the local foodie scene—you won’t be disappointed.

Russ Lyon SIR Names Kevin Gonzales as Chief Operating Officer

Kevin Gonzales brings 27 years of real estate experience to the role, all within the Russ Lyon Sotheby’s International Realty umbrella.

Arizona’s leader in luxury real estate, Russ Lyon Sotheby’s International Realty is pleased to announce the internal promotion of a long-time team member to a critically important role.

Kevin Gonzales was recently promoted to the role of Chief Operating Officer (COO) at Russ Lyon Sotheby’s International Realty. Gonzales brings with him 27 years of expansive experience at the luxury brokerage, and he most recently served as the company’s vice president of operations. Gonzales’ passion for real estate began in 1996 when he started with Russ Lyon Realty Company. A consistent top producer, Gonzales decided to step away from the sales side in 2007 and accepted a position as the Branch Manager of the Russ Lyon Realty Pinnacle Peak Office.

In 2019, Gonzales was promoted to Vice President of Operations for Russ Lyon Sotheby’s International Realty, where, in addition to continuing to manage the Pinnacle Peak Office, he was given the additional responsibilities of supervising all areas of operations, which included overseeing the managing brokers of each branch as well as the operations departments, which is comprised of the firm’s marketing, relocation, IT, training, and agent development functions.

“Kevin Gonzales has been a tremendous asset to our brokerage since he joined us in 1996. There is probably no one more seasoned or better at overseeing so many diverse areas of our operations than Kevin. Between his vast knowledge of real estate, his leadership and his great ability to work with people, we couldn’t be prouder to continue to elevate Kevin here at Russ Lyon Sotheby’s International Realty,” said CEO Todd Gillenwater of Russ Lyon Sotheby’s International Realty.

Gonzales assumed the Chief Operating Officer role on January 1st, 2024. In addition to the responsibilities noted above in his capacity as Vice President of Operations, Gonzales will be more involved in expanding the brand and sourcing new technology and systems to add additional value to the firm and its agents.

“Russ Lyon Sotheby’s International Realty is a special place,” said Gonzales. “I am especially grateful to this incredible organization and committed to assisting all of our branch managers, department heads, brokers, agents and back-office personnel to offer our clients the highest level of service and success in the industry.”

In addition to the promotion of Gonzales, Russ Lyon Sotheby’s International Realty has had several other noteworthy personnel changes. 44-year veteran of the firm, Deems Dickinson, recently announced his retirement; he was most recently in the role of Designated Broker for the state of Arizona. Attorney and Broker Bret Lamberson was promoted from the role of Managing Broker to replace Dickinson as the firm’s Designated Broker.
