In a market defined by evolution, resilience, and refined expectations, Russ Lyon Sotheby’s International Realty continues to stand as a benchmark of excellence across Arizona. The firm’s 2025 Notable & Quotable numbers tell a story that goes far beyond metrics—they reflect a legacy of leadership, a culture of expertise, and a future that remains firmly on an upward trajectory.

Now in its 78th year, Russ Lyon Sotheby’s International Realty remains proudly rooted in third-generation Lyon family ownership, a distinction that speaks to both heritage and continuity in an ever-changing industry.

That foundation continues to support a remarkable network of 858 real estate advisors across 12 Arizona offices, each contributing to a collective standard defined by professionalism, global reach, and local expertise.

A Year Defined by Scale and Strength

The numbers themselves are striking.

In 2025, Russ Lyon Sotheby’s International Realty achieved an impressive $5.46 billion in total sales volume, reinforcing its position as a dominant force in the luxury and residential real estate markets statewide.

With an average sales price of $1.18 million, the firm continues to operate at a level that reflects both the caliber of its listings and the trust placed in its advisors by discerning clientele.

Across the year, 4,606 properties were successfully sold, each transaction representing not just a sale, but a relationship built, a story told, and a client served at the highest level.

At the pinnacle of the market, a $30 million residential sale stands as a testament to the brand’s reach within the most exclusive tiers of real estate.

The Power of Connection

Beyond production, the strength of Russ Lyon Sotheby’s International Realty lies in its connectivity—both locally and globally.

In 2025 alone, the firm generated 1,120 incoming referrals, a powerful indicator of the trust placed in the brand by the broader Sotheby’s International Realty network and beyond.

These referrals represent more than opportunity; they are a reflection of reputation. They signal that when clients move across markets, Russ Lyon remains a trusted destination for exceptional service in Arizona.

More Than Metrics

While these figures are notable, what makes them truly quotable is what they represent: consistency, leadership, and a commitment to excellence that has endured for nearly eight decades.

They reflect a company that has not only adapted to market shifts but has helped shape them—one that continues to elevate the standard for real estate across the Southwest.

Looking Ahead

Closing Strong: December Sales Momentum at Ascent at The Phoenician

December is traditionally a time of reflection—an opportunity to take stock of all that has been accomplished and to look ahead with anticipation. But at Russ Lyon Sotheby’s International Realty, December 2025 became something more: a powerful finish to an exceptional year, defined by a notable number of luxury closings throughout the month—many tied to one of Arizona’s most iconic lifestyle destinations, The Phoenician, and the surrounding Scottsdale luxury market.

As the year drew to a close, our advisors, clients, and partners continued to prove something we see time and again: in luxury real estate, momentum doesn’t pause for the holidays—it sharpens. Buyers remained active, sellers stayed confident, and the market rewarded preparation, positioning, and expert representation.

Nowhere was that momentum more evident than within Camelback Tower at The Phoenician, where demand remained strong and closings remained steady throughout the month. In December 2025 alone, 15 Camelback Tower transactions closed, with sales spanning from approximately $2.05M to $4.64M, and close dates stretching from December 1 through December 26—a compelling reminder that high-caliber buyers continue to move decisively when the opportunity is right. Dec Phoenician closings

These closings were represented by a trusted team of Russ Lyon Sotheby’s International Realty advisors—including Leslie Jenkins, Joe Bushong, Chad Christian, Grant Almquist, Karina Rodriguez, Dave Purpora, and Beth Spivey—reinforcing the value of expertise and strategic representation in one of Scottsdale’s most elite residential enclaves. One closing also included Brad Kimmelman as the buying agent, reflecting continued buyer engagement even during the holiday season.

Derek Zieder as Chief Technology Officer

Russ Lyon Sotheby’s International Realty is proud to announce the promotion of Derek Zieder from Director of Technology to Chief Technology Officer (CTO)—a move that reflects both his longstanding impact on the company and Russ Lyon’s continued investment in strategic, future-focused leadership.

With more than 25 years of experience in technology and 15 years dedicated to Russ Lyon Sotheby’s International Realty, Derek has helped shape the firm’s technology infrastructure and operational backbone. In his new role as CTO, he will continue to lead the company’s technology strategy and operations, ensuring that innovation, security, and scalability remain at the forefront of the organization.

Throughout his tenure, Derek has overseen critical areas including infrastructure, cybersecurity, automation, internal systems, integrations, and technology support for agents and staff. His steady leadership has helped create a reliable, seamless technology environment that supports productivity, strengthens collaboration, and evolves alongside the needs of one of Arizona’s most respected real estate brands.

But beyond the systems he builds, Derek is known for something harder to quantify: his calm presence and patience. Among friends and family, he’s recognized for always listening—even when it doesn’t look like it.

That steadiness has been tested in ways most people don’t realize. A few years ago, Derek battled West Nile meningitis, an experience he describes simply as “definitely not a fun one.” It’s a personal chapter that reflects the grit and resilience he brings to everything he takes on.

Outside of work, Derek’s discipline shows up in another way—he’s an avid endurance athlete, regularly cycling, running, and swimming, currently training toward an Ironman 70.3. His version of a reset after a busy week? A 50+ mile bike ride, followed by a Sunday off-day reserved for laundry and binge TV. And his favorite simple joy? Dark chocolate.

Derek’s promotion reflects both confidence and gratitude—recognizing a leader with deep institutional knowledge, technical expertise, and a clear vision for the future. Russ Lyon Sotheby’s International Realty congratulates Derek Zieder on this well-earned promotion and looks forward to the continued innovation and stability his leadership will bring in the years ahead.
